Vincent's Update

Here's the beginning of my new and regular update for the Be-More Community. At the outset I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Michel, Gunter, Be-More and all the Volunteers
for making the project a huge success. We have had in excess of 30 volunteers/students joining us so far and the journey has been an excellent one - full of discovery and learning. I also bring regards from our staff, management and patients to all volunteers - your involvement in The Dream Centre is invaluable. The art work, bingo and movie nights continue as well as the routine outings to the mall and shops. Our volunteers also accompany patients to the various hospitals - this is something that can be very frustrating and requires a lot of patience (anyone whose experienced the South African Healthcare System will know!!!)and stress relief.

Current projects include the UV Lights (ongoing) as well as the purchase of 500 pajamas and 120 gowns (a 50% deposit has already been paid. We have also reserved a sponsorship of approximately R4000 (from a physio volunteer)and will be receiving the physio equipment shortly. Sponsorship funds are also used to purchase photos for patients applying for id books and for transport/taxi costs for thos applying for disability grants. A special thank you to Yvonne for the sponsorship of 12 wheelchairs to TDC. You have no idea how this has helped our patients. Finally we have embarked on a transporter project - this is the purchase of our own transport to facilitate the transport of our patients/staff (to and from hospitals, for identity document and grant applications and also to pick up and leave volunteers at the airport). So it seems that we are on the move with some projects!!!!!
