Back on track

Time has flown for the current volunteers. All really enjoyed the first two weeks of holiday programme where it was great to entertain hundreds of kids from the Helenvale community, where otherwise nothing happens.
It was great to hear that members of the community came up to thank the volunteers and offer their help. They are not used in Helenvale to see white people in the streets to offer services to the community. These reactions ofcourse motivate us only more to continue with more holiday activities for next periods.
It was not easy to get started again after the holidays, schools start slowly and it takes a week to get the normal programme on track again and suddenly it is time to leave again for most of the volunteers.
The special thing with this project is the interaction with the community, being part of their every day live and work and walk in the townships of PE. Especially exposure to culture and the backgrounds of the coloured and black community is a big part of participating in R4L which was really enjoyed by the volunteers.
