Dont be afraid, nobody has been attacked by lions, but the second group of children of Ithemba had the chance to see real lions from very close. A outing to Seaview lion park was a great succes and for most of them the first time (lets not hope the last) to see something of their own great country and the beautifull animals that live here.
The volunteers are going strong and making a shaded corner in the garden, painting benches, making a wheelchair ramp, repairing windows, buying a much needed ladder and many other little things that makes Ithemba a better place.
Language is a big problem sometimes as most kids only speak Xhosa, so hands and feet are necessairy to communicate and it does not always work out as you want it to be, but it is not for nothing. Maybe you don't see the change now but we will in months to come. Important to know is that these kids have a diversity of challenges: down syndrome, autism, celebral palsy, metally handicapped, emotionally disturbed, epileptic and combinations off all these things, so read up and prepare yourself as much as you can.!
