A word of thanks
Dear Be More volunteers and staff,
As it is my last day as the coordinator in Port Elizabeth for Be More, I would hereby like to express my thanks to all that I have met through my work for Be More.
It feels strange to say good bye officially, but as my wife Ellen is taking over my duties I will surely be involved and hear all the stories!
That a meeting with Michel 3 years ago while we were still living in Holland could have so much impact on our lives and many others. Ellen and myself, as social workers, always have had and still have the dream to start a project ourselves in South Africa. Meeting Michel after some email contact with NGO Uthando in 2005 and his plans and passion for projects in South Africa was the first step taken. We still have the dream but working for Be More was pretty close.
Keeping contact, it was a great challenge for me to start in 2007 with looking for possible projects for Be More to support in port Elizabeth and surroundings. With Liebenhaus as a first project, then ready4Life, Ithemba and now Tamsanqa it is great to look back on a succesfull year in Port Elizabeth for BeMore. Sometimes with great joy and pleasure and sometimes with emotional events that are difficult to deal with.
All these experiences have taught me a lot and I am thankfull for the trust and opportunities my role as coordinator have given me. It has been great to visit new projects, meet people and try and think of possibilities to lend a hand to those who need it most.
Because of the growth of my company Khaya it is no longer possible to combine all the responsibilities, but some projects have captured my hart and I will be in contact with them in the future.
Especially thanks for Michel and Yvette and good luck to Be More and its projects!

That's a pity, Martijn, I remember you as doing your job with lots of consideration and enthousiasm. Continue your work with the same abilities with your students. It was nice working together with you. Your effort of making a difference reminds me at my son who is still exploring the world with the same interest in human beiings. It's a character I admire.

It is great to see that Khaya is doing so well that you have to make choices. It is great that Ellen is taking over for you. She will do excellent! So therefore I am happy for you and Ellen. I will see you in a few (back on the 23rd September) and hopefully see you both work wise and privately.
