Dear all,
Jamila Bouhayoufi and Khadija Ochan volunteered at the Dream Centre from May until July this year. During this time they requested funds from the Hopjesfonds of the The Hague University of Applied Science ('De Haagse Hogeschool') to buy materials for the Dream Centre. The whole process took some time, but eventually these two wonderful ladies were able to arrange ten 'mobiele papegaaien' and some 'dekenbogen'.
I found out 'papegaaien' are very useful for patients who are unable to leave their bed, because these enable them to pull themselves up. This gives them some freedom of movement and makes it easier for nurses to lift them. 'Dekenbogen' can be used for patients with decubitus ('doorligplekken'), avoiding direct contact of the blankets to the patients. Since I don't know a lot about these things myself (so please correct me if I'm wrong), I hope the pictures will explain it all to you. You can also read more about it on Khadija's weblog.
Many thanks to Jamila, Khadija and the Hopjesfonds! I understand the equipment is very well received and it improves the quality of life for the patients.
