As you can read on our website, we report on what's been done at each of our partner projects financially on a monthly basis.

So here it goes!

In November for Umthombo funds have been spent on:

- Equipping Umthombo's 'Safe Space' centre
As you may know, Umthombo is opening a Safe Space drop-in centre. This is a new project in Durban, which will offer therapeutic services to street children, specifically for children under 18. Umthombo's social workers, assisted by child and youth care workers, run the centre. They are also responsible for designing and leading the programs. All is aimed at offering therapeutic services to street children in Durban in order to empower them to be able to leave the streets and enter community life.

A lot of stuff is needed. Computers, office equipment, child friendly furniture, TV screen and a DVD player for educational/health and recreational screenings. There is also need of a photocopier, computer, ADSL installation and phone line installation.
Besides that, Umthombo is painting the inside of the shelter. One of KwaZulu-Natal's top artists is working with Umthombo and he will be bringing the children to do a mural inside the building. Paint and equipment is also needed for this.
For the outside of the building a really positive sign is designed.

These types of therapeutic services have never been offered before, giving this centre an innovative and revolutionary character. The centre will also offer a place for Be More volunteers to be involved as well, so this is quite an exciting project!
