Updates Ithemba

Hi all,

Ithemba is a quite new project. It started in April 2008, but it's nice to mention that the volunteers have already made a very big difference in such a short time!

Like you can read in the financial feedbacks, in a few months time the volunteers spended a lot of funds in the project, but there still is a lot of money needed for for example some extra food for the kids (f.e. fruits) and new, safer busses.

The funds are not the only difference the volunteers have made. Maybe the biggest difference is the smile on the faces of the kids when they only get attention. They are happy with such a little things!!

The biggest recent news are the taxi protests in Port Elizabeth. During the protests it's not safe to go to Ithemba for the children, teachers, as well for the volunteers. So on that days Ithemba is closed, because safety goes before everything. Let's hope that the protests will soon stop!

Antoher nice thing to tell is that Andile won an award: volunteer of the year of South-Africa! According to Marco he was very proud. And that's very properly! Andile is an assistent who's doing a lot of good work at Ithemba!! He for example carries some wheelchair children on his back to the bus.
