enGirls Empowerment Workshops

We started a serie of 5 Girls Empowerment workshops with 6 of our teenage girls yesterday. The workshop teacher will, together with the girls deal with topics like trust, feeling good about yourself, knowing your strenghts, how to say no, influence of the media, what are your dreams etc.

The first lesson was done in our training room, for the next lessons we will take the girls to the BAT centre (cultural) centre in Durban. This is a very creative environment and will hopefully inspire the girls to make the most of their workshop. The first lesson went really well and the girls enjoyed the exercised and talking and spending time together!

We also found a zulu speaking youth development student who can take over the workshop from Miriam who is doing the lessons now. This way we will also be able to do the workshops with our younger girls and girls that don't speak English very well.

Hi Joy,

How are you? Good to see you're still involved with MoP.
We will be starting a second group soon, with a Zulu-speaking teacher. This is the pilot, we couldn't start with all the bigger girls.

Regards,
Brie.
